I was referred to Gynaecology in August 2019 and my first appointment with Dr Bano would have been at the start of the pandemic in 2020, unfortunately my appointment had to be cancelled as all services were. However as soon as it was practically possible I was given an outpatient appointment with Dr Bano, tests, scans etc. were completed and I was scheduled for surgery in June 2021. The care of Dr Bano and her team, (outpatients, pre-op, surgical, post op care on the Iris Ward, radiology, phlebotomy etc.) has been nothing short of outstanding. The difficulties faced with social distancing have obviously been very well managed so that I as a patient could receive the treatment needed and I am extremely grateful. Dr Bano took time to explain the procedure and what was required, what the complications may be and I was fully informed throughout. The surgery took longer than expected and Dr Bano explained this in my outpatient appointment on 02/09/2021. The reason being a large and unexpected benign fibroid that had not shown on any of the scans was in a very difficult position that could have caused me serious issues post op. The care and precision taken by Dr Bano ensured this hasn't happened and a weight (figuratively and literally) has been lifted for me. I have been discharged! It is people like Dr Bano and her team that make the NHS; care, dedication, explanation, listening, kindness and professionalism. Thank you for looking after me so well.
