Dr Darren Klass

Dr. Klass is an interventional radiologist at Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals in Vancouver, Canada and at the Cleveland Clinic London. He completed Medical school in Pretoria in South Africa, radiology residency in England and his IR fellowship in Vancouver, Canada He is the IR lead for the complex thoracic aortic stent graft program in Vancouver, Canada which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and IR dealing with all forms of aortic pathology. His imaging focus is in aortic disease, in particular aortic dissection and the invasive treatment thereof, using dynamic MRA to map flow in the aorta pre and post intervention, using dynamic MRA to guide therapy and optimizing CT imaging of the aorta. He completed an MD titled Bimodal Electric Tissue Ablation investigating the ablative potential of combining alternating and direct current in the liver. He performed the first transradial radioembolization and chemoembolization of the liver in Canada and performs 90% of his cases radially. He provides all aspects of locoregional cancer care including ablation, TACE and Y90 therapies. His current research interests include intraprocedural perfusion of liver tumors pre and post intervention and perfusion assessment of tumor response to ablation and outcomes of endovascular intervention for aortic dissection. In addition, his research interests include trans radial intervention outcomes.
