It is with great shame that only in hindsight did I realise she was not my actual surgeon. I attended the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and was informed by this anaesthetist that I didn't need the operation. As a result, she discharged me from the ward despite my initial scepticism. The original surgical consultant later phoned me to re-arrange another operative date.
