Dr Albert Power

Dr Power is Consultant Nephrologist at the Richard Bright Renal Service in Bristol. He is Clinical Lead for Haemodialysis and departmental lead for clinical audit. Dr Power's interests focus on all forms of blood purification therapies for chronic as well as acute renal failure. He is active in local, national and international clinical research on aspects of dialysis therapies. He graduated from Gonville & Caius College, University of Cambridge and subsequently undertook an MD in Nephrology at Imperial College London. He is an executive member of the international MONDO (MONitoring Dialysis Outcomes) research initiative and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Renal Medicine at Imperial College London. His specialist interests include coagulation in end-stage renal disease and vascular access function with clinical trials and large-scale observational studies examining clinical outcomes in patients dependent on central venous catheters. He has an active research portfolio examining stroke pathophysiology & outcomes in patients with renal disease through regional initiatives, national studies in collaboration with the UK Renal Registry and global research through the MONDO consortium. He is conducting clinical studies that challenge traditional healthcare & dialytic paradigms to facilitate patient access to acute stroke therapies while evaluating their efficacy, and to improve post-stroke rehabilitation outcomes.
