I had a basal cel carcinoma on my forehead which had been slowly growing for a couple of years. I read about the success rate of MOHs surgery on the internet and my sister phoned the Society of Dermatological Surgery who highly recommended Dr Adam Bray. He personally organised my consultations, surgery and follow ups, making sure that I was totally informed about my lesion and the MOHs procedure in every detail. He always asked me if I had any questions and took the time to answer my many queries that I sent via email and when we were together face to face. He also took personal care of arranging the surgery appointment with the hospital and explained details of parking and how to get to the dermatology department in the new Brunel building at Southmead Hospital. He told me what I’d expect to happen during the surgery and how to take care of the wound in the following days. He also gave me all these details in printed form for me to read beforehand. Dr Adam is very calm and cheerful and in fact the whole procedure was very pleasant indeed! The nurses were also very caring and cheerful and I never felt discomfort or pain during the surgery. He did such an outstanding job of stitching up my forehead after he removed the tumour that my friends and family are amazed that you can’t see a scar. You have to look up really close, and other people I’ve met since are not aware that I’ve had surgery unless I tell them. The MOHs surgery department in the Brunel building is a brand new, state-of-the-art facility which Dr Adam Bray set up, and the biopsy was done at the hospital as soon as he removed the tumour. I was allocated a room where I could wait for the results with my son, sister and brother-in-law while we drank tea and biscuits. They made sure there and then that they had removed all the cancerous cells, which of course is completely reassuring. I must say I still can’t believe how Dr Adam managed not to leave a huge scar on my forehead. He’s obviously extremely good and, I believe passionate, about what he does. I would not hesitate one second to recommend him.
