I underwent a Total Shoulder Replacement in 2016. Unfortunately the socket became loose, probably as a result of infection in the bone, and I had extremely limited movement in my arm as well as experiencing significant pain. In 2022 I was referred to Mr Hatrick because of the complicated nature of my condition. Mr Hatrick recommended a Revision Total Shoulder Replacement with the ball and socket reversed. Mr Hatrick fully explained the nature of the operation, including the risks and the possible outcomes. He carefully answered all my questions and filled me with confidence that I was in good hands. The operation was carried out at the Montefiore Hospital in Hove on 6 July 2022. Mr Hatrick was assisted by a second surgeon as is the case with such a difficult operation. Mr Hatrick saw me twice in the evening after the operation and either he or the other surgeon saw me every day I was in hospital. He was very happy to answer all my questions. I remained in hospital for 5 nights and received intravenous antibiotics while lab results were awaited. At no time did I experience any post operative pain. Mr Hatrick asked me to start rehab exercises a couple of days after the operation, and again there was no pain. Mr Hatrick has seen me for two follow up appointments, which included X rays, to monitor my progress. It was reassuring to remain under his care. I am now signed off until 12 months after the operation. My progress since the operation has exceeded my highest expectations. I now have full movement in my arm and my muscles are rebuilding. I feel like a new person. I am absolutely delighted with the treatment I received from Mr Hatrick and his team. I am so grateful for all the care I have received. It has given me my life back.
