- Specialist Practitioner: Adult Nursing
Profile
I started my career in the NHS in 1998 as a health care assistant.
In 2003 I started my nurse training at Teesside University. I have since returned to Teesside university and have completed Clinical Skills and Nurse prescribing.
When I first qualified I worked for 3 years on AMU. I then moved to Gastroenterology where I have decided to specialise.
I have experience in all aspects of Gastroenterology nursing and was part of a pilot in dealing with end of life care in relation to advanced liver disease.
In October 2015 I commenced my role as Gastroenterology nurse specialist. I currently run outpatient clinics alongside 3 of out consultant gastroenterologists, and run a nurse led immunomodulator clinic. I, alongside my colleague, also run a telephone advice/helpline for rapid access to specialist advice for our IBD patients.
I am hoping to introduce a nurse led Iron Deficiaency Anaemia service for our IBD patients in the future.
