My daughter was admitted after feeling unsafe in the Community with strong suicidal thoughts following death of loved one.
The night staff on Ruby ward, 5 of them including Victor, Nellie really proved that care in the nhs can be great. Compared with private care. It's difficult when you are a nurse and having to receive care, you always want the care to be of a standard you give to your own parents.
The staff introduced themselves listened to us, didn't talk over my daughter. Actually followed up on what they said they would do. They were caring, helpful and willing to work with her. The first night was very positive.
Let's see what the rest of the day brings with different staff on duty.
Hopefully she shouldn't be on the ward too long.
Thank you team for looking after my daughter. She also told the staff that she was impressed by the way they admitted her and the promptness in their actions.
The importance of staff attitude can make a world of difference, the night staff last night, got it right!
Listened, but my son and I at ease. Helped my son to open up about his feelings. Gave useful advice. Very caring and helpful to both me and my son.
Listened to me, gave me time to answer when I got overwhelmed, let me take a break and were respectful.
Staff very friendly and kind. Very helping.
Didnt make me feel like I was wasting his time or that he had somewhere more important to be.
Sometimes things are good and sometimes they aren't.
Miscommunication.
Lack of options in terms of treatment, medication or nothing.
Poor organisation and communication within the team - particularly about leave.
Very disappointed with the whole experiences, patients are not treated well.
