Loved the food, always staff looking for improving your mood and encouraging optimism. Vape was even provided on request. Friendlier staff? Impossible. All smiling and helping me to voice concerns and doctors are superb, top-class interviews, understandable rules, very polite and well-mannered! Whilst transfers were being resolved, one of the nurses accompanied me outside when needing a smoke and is super friendly. The psychologist who saw me had a lot to listen to in my circumstances, and didn't hold back in expressing how that made them feel too, which was very important for opening up and made me feel very welcomed. Some patients didn't seem very friendly, but that's okay... meal time no one argued and for the most part, it is easy to get along if not causing any issues! Another great part had to be the independent charity worker ensuring rules were followed, and though I raised concerns with the charity, rest assured, none of those concerns had to do with St Michael's at all. Everyone working had a great, funny, witty attitude toward cheering up and the funniest had to be the nurse doing the meal times... I walked in and went to sit down but was staring at the food, I zoned out on the food for a bit and suddenly heard "[name removed]" from someone my age... :D xD I had to be laughing forever more, iconic moment, made my day and another great part of visiting the Hospital! Medication time was not too early, just early enough actually, and freedom to stay in room, sitting area or outside for fresh air is plentiful. The park outside with benches is a great area to unwind in. One patient seemed quite distressed outside, and when she sat with me she opened up about her on-going troubles, and after a quick chat, she had livened up and thanked me for listening. I think it's up to all of us to do the best, with the best intentions for everyone all the time, and this place, along with St Matthews in Northamptonshire very much reminded me how good we can all be. A positive attitude is definitely what you are taught to embrace by the teams across the UK, and what helps you gain independence... EVEN when you least think you have it. Thanks team! xoxox
