I chose Poor service because when carers were not busy, patient needs are not attended to when needed, or take a long time. I wasn’t treated with dignity and respect by the night staff and some day staff. The male staff makes me very uncomfortable by the way they handle the patients. Physically and emotionally. The constant change of new male and female health assistants make it harder to converse issues as they do not understand the patient at all. Timely information is not timely as medication is not on a strict time and occasionally late. For example, last night we had our medication around 11.30pm when we usually have it around 9pm. The supper trolley also no on time which cause patients to be thirsty. The location is clean but the duvets still have stains on them. Paper towels should be biodegradable not thrown into litter bin. I do not feel safe in this ward because anyone can look into the window and watch someone getting changed. I also do not feel safe because one main key opens all locks on every room door. The food did not meet my expectations because they do not have a vegan selection. Only meals available is garden salad, plain vegetables, fruit or a jacket potato is all I know of. I am thankful for the staff that treated me well, thank you for looking after me and helping me with the laundry and folding them.

Suggested improvements
Things that need to be done better: Attend to patient needs when they need to, such as washing a reusable cup several times through out the day. Some days I drink from my cup several times in the day for tea or coffee. Treat patients nicely, don’t handle them or ignore them like they are invisible. Have at least one regular member of staff available so new staff can’t converse to them if they need help. Supper trolley to be here on time. Have medication at the right time. Dispose duvets that are dirty and stains because I don’t know what may have happened to the last person using them and then I have to use it. Paper towels should be biodegradable for the environment. To have different keys to every lock in the ward. And women staff to be working in a woman’s ward would make me feel safer. Provide a dish that vegans can have. It could be a vegetarian dish that is suitable for vegans too if that helps the main kitchen staff.
