On the whole, the care I received was outstanding. I would particularly like to congratulate the ward sister, Elizabeth sommerville, on running an excellent service with care and attention. The few times I had cause for complaint, she took me seriously and followed up with, for example, apologies from the agency staff concerned. She is extremely caring and approachable. There were several other members of staff who were absolutely stand out: nurses Clara and Sonia; HCAs Kate, Lucy and Rena; and student Anne. I felt some of the staff on the nighttime shifts were sometimes lacking in responsiveness compared to the day. Services of the hospital on the whole: The food could definitely be improved - it seemed to lack a lot in nutritional value. There was also a great deal of waste for packaged items such as drink cartons and yoghurt that once served were thrown away even if unopened. Finally, my biggest complaint is that hospital transport was unreliable, poor quality and made already difficult and stressful situations significantly worse.
