The anaesthetist came for pre op with someone else’s notes. It was some way into the discussion before he asked about my pre existing MS before it became apparent. If the other patient had been in more similar health to me I dread to think what would have occurred. I did pre op online and follow up call and blood tests only to be called to attend for another blood test and some repeat questions involving another lift to Southampton ( an hour plus each way ) at very short notice as ‘hospital procedures had changed ‘. It was hugely inconvenient. After operation I was told not to be in pain as it affected BP so in the night I asked for some more pain relief but was told I needed to keep to the schedule & to wait! The discharge briefing was muddled as incorrect info was given about follow up dates and so all had to be rebooked before I left. My post op meal was too much food and I picked at it. A chance visit from staff pointed out I needed to have eaten the crisps provided( I thought it was a mistake and had left them) to help recovery so I then ate them. A better briefing would have helped. Staff friendly and clean room.
