My mother was really well looked after. She was clean and comfortable all the time. We always felt welcome.
I have absolutely no concern re my care on this ward. I find all the staff most helpful and professional and coping well, considering the current shortage of staffing in the NHS.
Thank you for your concern about the staff. They are particularly stretched at the moment, but as an employer, we provide many different emotional and wellbeing support options. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient Experience Manager
Help given with such kindness
Everything was good about my care and I don't think there could be improvement.
Daytime care is excellent, night time care is a bit hit and miss. Some night staff are verging on rude. Evvironment is clean safe and happy. Day staff very pleasant even when rushed. Food very good.
Staff members were very nice and helpful.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry we caused you worry. I have passed your concern to the ward matron so that they can look at their call bell response. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient Experience Manager
My care was excellent, thank you, and I was perfectly happy as things are.
The physiotherapist and consultant were amazing but the service lacks therapist treatments or any offers of well being.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are very sorry that the communication has not been adequate. We would like to put it right. Please contact our confidential helpline (PALS) on 0800 917 8504 or pals@nhft.nhs.uk to resolve.
I went to the GIC for the first time in years, for my lower surgery first opinion consultation.
The appointment was on time, thorough, professional and friendly. I felt respected, listened to and cared for throughout. Dr [name removed] went above and beyond to ensure that questions that could’ve been worded invasively were spoke about delicately, and medically. I felt really positive and not anxious throughout the appointment, and am looking forward to receiving a copy of the report as well as attending my second opinion appointment, hopefully soon.
Thank you for your feedback. Generally, first assessment appointments take around 90 minutes. However, when patients are travelling a considerable distance we try to book the nursing appointment and offer a physical examination on the same day where we can. The downside of this is that you will be with us for longer on that day. Whilst the GIC does provide a mix of face to face and remote (video) consultations, first diagnostic assessments and referrals for surgery do require the patient to be physically present as our clinicians have found that this improves the quality of the assessment and takes less time overall to complete. It is possible for patients who are on reduced/low incomes to apply for travel reimbursement via the Healthcare Travel Costs scheme. This website link provides a helpful overview of who is eligible and how to make a claim: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/help-with-health-costs/healthcare-travel-costs-scheme-htcs/
Thank you for your suggestion. I have passed your review to the service manager to consider. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient Experience manager
