I phoned the hub and spoke to a recovery navigator on 02/06. She was so empathetic and supportive it made me feel much safer at a very scary time. In my past I have had poor experiences. If you phone the hub in a bad way and you get an unsupportive person it can make you deteriorate swiftly, I have historically gone from crisis to actively suicidal from these encounters. Conversely, if you get someone full of empathy and hope it can help swing things around very powerfully, I would say the first 30seconds of these calls set the foundation for your recovery going forward. The lady that answered my call was a shining example of exactly what the hub and mental health services are all about and I start this week in a much better place. I can be safer, more secure, a better father and husband and with the knowledge that I know what to do in an emergency. Thank you from the bottom of my heart [name removed]
