Review of Day Surgery (BDGH) written by a patient
15th November 2017

The care to me was excellent, for which I am very grateful. It was very disappointing that my wife couldn't stay at my bedside after surgery for even a short period. I was very unhappy, as was my wife, that after a decision by the nursing staff to keep me in hospital overnight, my wife wasn't told until an hour after I was told. She was left in the waiting area of the day ward for over an hour, and very upset.

Review of Ward C2 written by a family member
4th October 2017

My mother received first class treatment right from the start. The paramedics were wonderful, the staff on the A&E department were also wonderful. My mothers treatment on Ward C2 was exceptional in every way. She had first class care and treatment. She was taken to DRI for her Pacemaker procedure and that was also wonderful. We cannot praise my mothers stay enough. Everything was 5 star treatment. We would certainly recommend Ward C2 and Bassetlaw Hospital to our family and friends.

Good overnight care, especially as I had limited mobility and needed additional support with my baby. The facilities were a little tired but perfectly functional. All staff were attentive, friendly and quick to respond to any needs that we had. Visitors were made welcome during visiting hours, and the ward was perfectly located next to the labour ward. The discharge process was informative and efficient. The sign about discharge medication needs modifying. It should say 'please ask your midwife about the discharge medication', not 'please ask your midwife about your discharge medication' (we are both teachers and quite pedantic).

Review of Labour Ward (BDGH) written by a patient

We felt we had the undivided attention of the whole team. The facilities were good and kept very clean. The space was also appreciated. We felt reassured when things got more complicated and the response from the team was excellent. The hospitality exceeded expectations. This includes the hot drinks tray, regular snacks and meals, and the willingness of staff to bring anything we needed promptly. My husband was also very grateful for the support (and nourishment) he received.

Overall we cannot easily the staff on the ward they were always willing to help us with anything the problem with this hospital is the amount of staff on it there is never enough on. Too many times we were told we would have to wait as there was only 1 midwife on shift. They were all running around like crazy trying to help everyone we sat for most of the day waiting to be dispatched as they were once again short staffed and would have to wait until they had chance

Review of A&E (Bassetlaw) written by a patient

Brilliant care from all the a and e staff who worked really hard and kept us informed of what they were investigating. The staffing was short that day but we would not have noticed because they were regularly checking on me and doing all necessary checks. Well done and Thank you

I cannot thank Bassetlaw Labour ward enough for the care I received. Not only did the staff care for me but also my husband who was resident with me the whole time. Everyone from the midwives to the domestic staff were incredibly caring and helpful. I was a inpatient on labour ward for a week before I had the baby via emergency section after a failed induction. I had an emotional rollercoaster but the midwives were incredible who cared for me and offered emotional support and an ear to listen to my worries ensuring they can relieve them wherever possible. I would like to give a particular mention to the housekeeping staff who were genuinely lovely and couldn't do enough to help or meet our needs. I would like to give a mention to midwife Amanda (sorry unsure of surname!) who gave excellent care and I couldn't thank enough. I would mainly like to give my upmost and thanks to Sam Whalley who looked after us most shifts and is the most amazing, caring, thorough and genuinely lovely person and also midwife. Sam is such a hard worker who will do anything to help and goes above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. If I could recommend Sam to everyone who was due to go into labour ward I would! Sam made a tough and difficult time a lot easier and even stayed over her shift to help deliver our daughter when we was rushed to theatre for a c section. I could write all day about how amazing Sam is and also the Bassetlaw labour ward. I feel lucky and privileged to have been able to have our daughter at this hospital. Bassetlaw labour ward is a vital service for this local area and I can't thank them enough.

Review of Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic (BDGH) written by a patient
7th September 2017

I today attended an appointment at Bassetlaw hospital to seek advice from a consultant about a lump in my neck that causes me discomfort when I exercise or move my arm in a certain way the consultant that I saw today was rude and almost aggressive in way in which he spoke to me. I left the appointment feeling very upset to the point where I was almost in tears and I genuinely feel that I have received a very poor level of service from Bassetlaw hospital today.

I attended a and e on 6 august at 6am with a badly swollen finger that had an infection. I was seen by the doctor within 10miutes. I was treated by a doctor and nurse very well. I was in a great deal of pain and struggling to cope with the pain. Both members of staff explained what they were going to do and where very kind and understanding. I cannot thank them enough for the way they treat me. When my treatment was finished I then needed an xray. Again the xray staff member was very good and treat me very well. I again saw the doctor who was concerned that the infection may have entered my bone. Fortunately it hadn't. I left a and e at 7 . In all I had been there an hour. I felt so much better and would like to say a massive thank you to the staff that dealt me.
