What a excellent consultation this was.
My husband has had breathing problems for over a year now, but once referred to the hospital it was quickly followed up.
Dr Dempsey was very caring and informative and fully explained my husband's condition and showed us the MRI scan and x.ray results.
Although his illness cannot be cured he made various suggestions as to how his symptons can be relievedl
We were given a leaflet about his condition, a letter for our G.P., appointment for physio to be arranged and a follow up appointment for 6 months time.
We came out of the consultation feeling relieved and much more positive.
All in all a very rewarding meetin.
The experience I gave was in 2004 but it still haunts me. 10 days in there, nursing care awful, misdiagnosis from consultant. Career ruined and left with lifelong disability. Thank god I never have to go there again!
Evrything fine
Mark involvment mid way as I was not able to make decisions for myself.
The nursing staff should all recieve medals for empathy, understanding, hard work, professionalism and commitment.
Most house keeping staff did an excellent job, did what they had to do, but felt that they had been ordered not to talk to the patients. Why? Could see who the grafters were and who the slackers were. Three members stood outside my room for nearly an hour chatting!! The tea trolley stood beside them, couldnt ask for a cuppa because me tongue was stuck to the roof of my mouth.
But on the whole the time I spent in ARI was good and if it hadnt been for the expertise of the nursing staff I wouldnt be here today.
I have been to the Neurology department on my last visit I was told I would get a MRI scan of the shoulders but after several months later I still hav'nt had a result or another appointment to see the Neurologist.
I am now a frequent visitor for flexible sigmoidoscopy, lung function tests and the chest clinic. Everything has always been handled very efficiently apart from the occasional rescheduled appointment at the chest clinic and recently a double rescheduling. I have already made suggestions about the maps and leaflets sent out with notifications of appointments, for example when the directions of travel of the number 5 (now 4) bus changed and the recommendation to warm a self administered enema, which was printed on the box but not mentioned in the leaflet though I found the advice helpful. On one occasion no lubricant was included in the enema box and on another the enema had leaked slightly in the post. I mentioned this on the personal details form when I posted it back and that department informed the sigmoidoscopy department. A senior nurse went out of her way to bring me a full bottle of enema on her way home in case of contamination.
At clinic c today I WaS treated well in this extremely busy department
I felt the 2 nurses running all the clinics where doing a great job.
I felt they could have done with some more support. Other than that the clinic
receptionists where very efficient and helpful.
Staff always helpful and friendly. nothing seems too much bother even though they are obviously busy.
