I was seen promptly by Dr Coakley and when he decided I had to be referred to the hospital he found an appointment for me on his computer and printed it out there and then. He also saw that my husband was waiting for a later appointment and fitted him in after me so we both went away very happy. When the NHS receives such bad press it is good to know it is often unjustified-or perhaps we are lucky in this part of the country.
The surgery is overall good with helpful doctors. But it does not seem to be well managed from the top. Letters from consultants often take too long to be acted upon and medications often take more than the two days stipulated. My great annoyance is when I travel to the surgery to get medications and one item out of six is not available. Why cannot they text to save me a journey of some miles. The receptionists vary. Some are very helpful but other are often very obstructive. Overall I feel that more management is required. It would make a good surgery excellent.
