Following 2 years of pain and severely restricted movement in my right shoulder I had a consultation with Mr Al Hakim. After listening patiently to me and examining me he suspected that I had a rotator cuff tear which was confirmed with a scan. I underwent surgery to repair this at the Holly hospital last year and a follow up capsular release procedure earlier this year. Mr Al Hakim went to great lengths to explain to me, in a way I could understand, exactly what my problems were and how he was going to treat them. I am delighted with the outcome as I am now pain free and have regained almost full movement in my shoulder and due to the procedures being carried out arthroscopically have no noticeable scarring. Mr Al Hakim is a fine surgeon and a real gentleman. I have no hesitation in highly recommending him.

I had a shoulder operation in March at the Holly House Hospital, I had not had an operation before but Mr Wisam Al-Hakim put me at ease. He informed me how the operation would be done and was very easy to talk to. I am very pleased with the outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Mr Wisam Al-Hakim. He is a lovely man and feel very lucky to have had the operation performed by him. Also the staff at the Holly House Hospital were lovely and the physio that followed my operation was excellent.

A highly professional, thorough and caring consultant who clearly explains the procedure and any potential problems that can arise. He is a confident and very competent surgeon who inspires confidence to the patient. The outcome of my elbow bursa removal was better than expected with a very light amount of scarring that will more than likely fade with time. I couldn't have asked for better.

Would highly recommend Mr Al-Hakim. He diagnosed my trigger finger instantly, I was treated with a steroid injection under ultrasound. Although it is not a serious condition it is very painful and limits use of hand. I’m free of pain for now, but Mr Al-Hakim informed me that the condition can return. He was very informative and told me the options should this be the case. If I eventually need surgery I would not hesitate to have Mr Al Hakim perform it. He has a very nice, friendly manner and explains things in a way that is easy to understand .

Mr Al-Hakim performed a rotator cuff repair on my shoulder after months of pain and inability to lift my arm above shoulder height or carry out any lifting or certain movements using my left arm. My life was very frustrating as I was a 61-year-old very active man, playing golf, gym, swimming. DIY and playing with my grandchildren, which became impossible prior to surgery. Mr Al-Hakim quickly diagnosed the MRI scan as a tear of the shoulder tendon and explained everything in a detailed manner that I was able to comprehend. The operation was performed under GA with a pain blocker that effectively froze my shoulder for 24 hours, with Mr Al-Hakim carefully explaining the process and reassuring a very nervous patient (me) prior to the operation. Within a few weeks I was out of pain and commenced physiotherapy, under The Holly, with the wonderful Noel, who guided me diligently through exercises to avoid the shoulder seizing up. Throughout my consultations with Mr Al-Hakim I found his manner friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. I was provided with photographs after the surgery and Mr Al-Hakim explained everything he did, which was quite an extensive amount of work, amazingly completed via arthroscopic method, with minimal scarring in 3 points around my shoulder, which have healed perfectly. I was discharged this morning after 6 months and I’m about 80% along the recovery path, but able to do all the things the injury prevented me from doing, which is fantastic! I would have no hesitation in recommending this fine surgeon, who I would also describe as a fine gentleman. He is now my hero and has given me my life back and I owe him a massive debt of gratitude, even though he says “I’m only doing my job” in his inimitable humble and decent way.
