Mr Murphy was my consultant for a hip replacement operation. I found him easy to talk to and supportive and I felt that he understood my concerns and gave me full information. In discussing my treatment he showed me an X-ray of my hip to explain why I needed the operation and, during my follow-up appointment, another X-ray to show the new hip implant, He visited me on the morning of the operation, he reassured me after the operation that all had gone well and he visited me each day that I was in hospital to check on my progress. He establishes a very good rapport with the patient and makes you feel that he is concerned for your welfare. When my first operation date was cancelled the evening before, due to sickness and short staffing at the hospital, Mr Murphy phoned me personally and was very apologetic. His secretary, Colette, is very pleasant and helpful too. An excellent consultant.
