I was extremely fortunate that my surgeon told me that my operation was so complex he did not feel confident enough to carry it out. However, he referred my case notes to Mr Jenkins for him to decide if he could carry out the operation. Thankfully he decided he could and we had a zoom call. During the call he clearly mapped out the complexity of my cancer and surgery. He discussed the possible side effects after the operation and the potential long term problems. He answered all of our questions and I were not left feeling that I’d not been heard. My operation took place at The London Clinic and Mr Jenkins kept in touch with me before it took place. After the operation he visited every day to check up on my progress. I ended up spending in total about 8 weeks in the hospital after I went back with a minor complication. Mr Jenkins visited all times of the day and early evening and I always felt that what ever question I had about my recovery I would ask. He also had a good sense of humour which was I definitely welcomed. What I most respected about him was that he explained all of the potential things that may delay my recovery and when I did hit a road bump I didn’t feel scarred because he had prepared me. He was always completely professional in his conduct and I enjoyed seeing what outfit he would wear in each visit. (I think he must have a very large wardrobe at home to accommodate all his clothes). Follow up appointments and calls have again been professional and he has explained that my recovery can take up to 12 months. My cancer journey was a long and hard one and I know that Mr Jenkins saved my life. I’m now 7 months post operation and just had my latest round of CT & MRI tests which came back again with NED. I will be forever grateful that I was operated on by such an exemplary surgeon. Thank you

Mr Jenkins provided excellent care prior, during and after my treatment. He was extremely compassionate when discussing the difficult consequences of the surgery which I required and clearly explained the procedure and reason for the approach being taken. I felt fully supported and had the opportunity to discuss my concerns and questions prior to my surgery. Throughout my recovery, Mr Jenkins was closely connected to the nursing staff and duty doctors, and regularly visited to check on my progress. It was reassuring to know that Mr Jenkins was always involved in my care and ensured that any issues which arose were quickly addressed.

Mr Jenkins is just amazing! He instils great confidence, is very reassuring and easy to talk to. He's without doubt a very skilled surgeon and performed a complex operation on me which other surgeons were reluctant to do. Post operative care was excellent, with Mr Jenkins regularly checking up on my progress and acting quickly when unexpected issues occurred. Would definitely recommend and what a wonderful man too.

Following chemotherapy and chemo-radiotherapy treatment for colorectal cancer, Mr Jenkins was recommended to me by my oncologist as the best surgeon to perform my low anterior resection with total mesorectal excision. Choosing to go with this recommendation is the best decision I could have made. I met Mr Jenkins for the first time on 31/10/2023. I immediately felt comfortable in his presence. He listened to everything I had to say and provided me with all the explanations and information I required. He was honest, to the point, patient, kind and understanding. I did not feel pressurised or rushed to make any decisions. What I needed most was to trust the person who was going to perform the first operation I have ever had in my life. I can honestly say after our first meeting, I felt the trust and that Mr Jenkins was the surgeon I needed for the job. I wanted the best and that is exactly what I got. He was thorough with MRI, CT scans and sigmoidoscopy to gain further imaging and biopsies. He was concerned that although I had a really excellent response to neoadjuvant treatment that there may be residual disease, so his strong recommendation was to go with surgery. He explained very clearly the risks of watching and waiting to see if I'd had a complete response to the treatment received so far. He also explained the percentage risk of the tumour returning and how difficult it would be to treat if it did watch and wait but again, he left the decision up to me. I decided to go with surgery which took place in The London Clinic on 19th February 2024 in the safe hands of Mr Jenkins. He was understanding and accommodating to our needs as a family as my son is autistic and has a severe leaning disability. The laperoscopic surgery was a success. I spent one night in ICU as expected and then six nights on the ward. I have a temporary loop ileostomy whilst my colon heals and this will most likely be reversed in a few months depending on whether a successful join has been achieved. Mr Jenkins visited me daily during my stay in hospital to check on my recovery progress. Everyone from physio, the nurses on the ward, the stoma nurses, my oncologist, family, friends and Mr Jenkins himself have remarked on how quickly I am recovering from surgery. I 100% believe this is due to the incredibly talented surgery I received from Mr Jenkins. Mr Jenkins gave me the pathology results on 14th March and he confirmed that there was 3mm of residual disease, which if left would have grown back so surgery was absolutely the right decision. He confirmed that there was no evidence of metastatic disease and no further treatment is required. What a result! Myself, my husband and everyone who cares about me are over the moon with this news. I cannot thank Mr Jenkins enough for being the main reason my life has now been saved. As they say, not all superheroes wear capes. He really is the best colorectal surgeon and I would only ever recommend him to anyone needing this type of surgery.
