Due to late diagnosis, carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist was already severe when I had the first operation. After scarring caused a return of symptoms, I had a second one. Both were undertaken on the NHS but neither was done by Mr Read. When I was able to have consultations with him, he suggested he undertake a third and introduce a gel over the excised scarring to prevent another build-up. This he did, under local anaesthetic, almost seven weeks ago and at my post-op session a few days ago I was able to show that some dexterity and strength had already returned.
Based on this experience, I'd say that Mr Read's surgical skills are of the highest order and that his ability to listen carefully and understand why a patient seeks time with him, both in consultations and for surgery (I refused a first date for the third operation when he was not available) when a condition is not straightforward. I hope not to need a similar operation on the left wrist but if I do, intend to press for him to be my surgeon.
When I met mr read he really listened and understood what I was saying and I felt like I could 10000 percent trust him he made me laugh when I told him I hate needles he said I hate them too he's fine sticking them in but having the pointy facing him no likey when I had my first surgery with him it was When I was awake when I went to operating theatre he said do I look good in these small tiny glasses I ended up laughing and calling him Dr Spock or something Dr
You couldn't ask for a nicer doctor.
He always has time to listen, answer questions and explain; especially important before and after surgery.
Caring, kind and patient
An excellent caring competent surgeon in my view.
After seeing the most awful hand & wrist specialist i was lucky enough to find Mr Jeremy Read, I cannot praise him highly enough... Not only is he a very competent Doctor in his field but a very caring kind man , I must add that Mrs Read is his secretary not only did she call me back on weekends & evenings but Mr Read also called me. Mr Read is a cautious doctor who i feel genuinely cares about his patients.....I only wish more doctor were like him.
