Mr Polyzois was great the whole way through my shoulder treatment. I picked up a ruptured ligament on my AC joint playing rugby and had discomfort and lost a lot of strength and mobility through it, so contacted the Runneymede Hospital through my private insurance policy. Having never dealt with Mr Polyzois before I wasn't sure what to expect but from arriving for my first appointment with him I was very impressed by the treatment I received. In the initial appointment I explained how it happened and the symptoms I was experiencing, and within 10 minutes I'd had the X-ray done and we were discussing the next steps. Mr Polyzois explained that from the X-ray it looked like a rupture of the ligament but as the severity of the rupture wasn't conclusive, I would need an MRI scan. I had the MRI scan the following week and saw Mr Polyzois again for a second appointment within a week of the first. The efficiency of care continued throughout the experience of the treatment. Once the extent of the rupture of the realised Mr Polyzois explained about LARS treatment which is the replacement of the ruptured ligament with a synthetic one. He explained what it was and answered any questions I had on it....the main one being 'will I be able to get back to playing rugby?'. He explained the benefits of the operation and that most patients make a full recovery, he also encouraged me to also do some research on it to make sure I was happy with the procedure before making the decision. My aim is to return to playing to rugby so this would be my best option to do so. I found Mr Polyzois was very understanding of what I wanted out of the treatment. The operation was successful and the after care has been very good since. Mr Polyzois is always very accessible through regular appointments and shows a lot of interest in how the joint is healing. A slight infection arose on the scar, Mr Polyzois showed concern and prescribed antibiotics to settle the infection. I had regular check ups with Mr Polyzois to ensure the infection didn't spread until he was happy it had completely gone. Since the operation and ongoing physiotherapy I've felt a great improvement to the functionality of the joint as it continues to strengthen. Overall the experience has been very positive and I'm very happy with the treatment received from Mr Polyzois, his staff and the staff at the Runneymede Hospital.

I went to see Mr Polyzois for a frozen shoulder, I was sent for an MRI to rule out any other problems then given steroid injections which unfortunately didn't work, I was happy that I wasn't rushed into surgery and given other options first. I am now nearly 6 weeks post surgery and have 95% of my movement back already. He stressed the importance of physiotherapy which has definitely helped my recovery. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Polyzois.

Can't thank Mr Polyzois enough, i was in so much pain in my left shoulder .. He told me before my operation what he was going to do and put me at ease. I had my operation back in June of this year , and I am so so happy I could lift my are right up just 3 weeks after having the procedure operated on . Such a kind and helpful surgeon . I would recommend anybody needing a shoulder repair operation to see Mr I POLYZOIS. I'm a 65 year old woman. He knew right from my first consultation what was wrong . And I feel great now . He took so much care and put me at ease A very very big thankyou To this very careing Consultant.
