I saw Mr Polyzois for progressive and constant pain in my shoulder. He was running to time or even early for each appointment, and he took time to explore my pain, my lifestyle, my expectations. After the recommended treatment I feel positive and am so pleased I found such a professional and insightful doctor.

Mr Polyzois was very thorough in explaining the options for my fracture. His estimates for my recovery following surgery were absolutely accurate and he followed my progress with regular consultations and reassurances every step of the way. He is very easy to talk to and has a calm manner which puts one at ease. I found it very convenient to arrange appointments due to his flexible schedule and he altered his surgery time to fit in my operation to suit my needs.

Mr polyzois operated on my shoulder after a fall downstairs, he was very patient with my concerns that i still had problems and reassured me that over time these issues would resolve. I now have full movement in my shoulder without any pain.

Mr Polyzois performed two operations to repair a broken collar bone which required internal fixation (followed by removal of the plate and pins). In the initial meetings Mr Polyzois explained the need for the operation very carefully, gave a detailed run down of what to expect, timescales and the likely outcomes (and risks). I never felt rushed or pressured or that Mr Polyzois had another patient to see, he was very generous with his time and his detailed communication was perfect.
Both operations were very successful and during the interim consulting meetings I was again afforded plenty of time to review how I was progressing and to ask any questions or raise concerns. I was able to speak to Mr Polyzois by phone to address some concerns after the first operation putting my mind at ease.
I am now signed off as his patient having fully healed. I cannot recommend Mr Polyzois highly enough, his work and patient care were were first class. Additionally the support team behind him were great.

Mr Ioannis Polyzois is an experienced and skilled consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at the Surrey Orthopaedic Clinic in Chertsey. He is an expert in shoulder and upper limb surgery, for which he is at the top of his field. He specialises in arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation, complex upper limb trauma, the latest techniques in reconstructive surgery for sports upper limb injuries and all types of upper limb joint replacement surgery.
After qualifying from Liverpool University Medical School, Mr Polyzois completed his postgraduate trauma and orthopaedic training in Leeds, Athens and London. In this time, he worked in major trauma and elective centres, including Leeds General Infirmary and University College London Hospital. Whilst studying in Athens, he was the gold medallist in the Athens orthopaedic exit exam diploma and in the European Board Diploma. Mr Polyzois has also completed dual specialist fellowship training in shoulder and upper limb surgery at the Rowley Bristow unit in Chertsey and at the world-renowned Reading Shoulder Unit, a centre of excellence in this field.
Alongside his clinical commitments, Mr Polyzois is very active in his research, with more than 25 ‘medline’ peer-reviewed publications and authorship of several book chapters in orthopaedics and sports surgery. Mr Polyzois also presents regularly, both nationally and internationally on shoulder and elbow surgery, sports injuries and orthopaedics.
