Having had knee problems from my early forties I had already seen four knee surgeons when I was referred to Mr Atkinson. He listened, immediately understanding exactly what my problems were and the issues they caused. He laid out clearly all the options available to me giving me a precise understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure and the risks involved then, importantly, gave me time to think before making a decision. Mr Atkinson performed a knee osteotomy on my right knee and a full replacement on my left, both operations were a success and have meant that my mobility is back to normal and I have been able to resume exercising and gardening as well as work which involves standing for long periods. Mr Atkinson's after care was exemplary and I would highly recommend him.

I have seen Mr Henry Atkinson for a meniscus tear and had surgery 4 weeks ago. I found him very professional , caring, friendly and truly interested in his patients and in listening and answering all questions promptly and with patience. I had a very smooth and fast recovery, I have minimal, almost invisible scars, had no swelling , no pain post surgery and did not have to take even one paracetamol post surgery. So I am very happy I about the whole process and outcome as I was very scared being a sporty and active person. I would recommend him wholeheartedly.

I know I am a bit previous, but I couldn’t wait any longer to tell you I am a new woman, my left leg is brilliant, I am not over doing it but cant help showing off to everyone, how I can walk, all be it the length of the front room but when I walk I can actually get up stand up with NO crunching or grinding and wait to see whether I can walk fall down or move, I have no noises and am not waiting for the bit where I see what happens, this is heaven!!! I cant thank you enough for improving my life so much I know its just my first knee but this has made so much of a difference, it is totally unreal, yes we both know I have been waiting for years for this, this is undescribable. Bit of useless information here for you both my parents past away in the last 2 years, my dad kept pressing me to keep on to get my knees done he kept trying to encourage me to do different things to loose the weight, I think he was as disappointed as I was last time it didn’t happen, when I got up in the hospital and realised I could walk with a bend in my knee, (it looks magical, I’m not walking like a stiff no more)I grabbed my phone to call him to let him know as I know he would be over the moon like I am, then realised daft cow his not here anymore to see it, but I was so excited and happy. Thank you so much, My grandchildren have said nanny your walking with sticks why I told them don’t worry bout them stick they will be gone soon but look Nanny can bend her knee I will be chasing you over the park in no time I cant wait for it. Unless you have been in the situation or felt the pain that goes with it I really don’t think you get to understand how much of a difference this makes, I know you are very understanding but the pain relief here and emptiness of noise and grinding is totally unreal, Thanks again. Also I want to take the time to thank you Mr Henry Atkinson and the staff at Kings Oak they are brilliant!! Everyone was lovely from check in to departure, but outstandingly was Grace on Hadley along with Neurza and Raphael, please pass on my thanks and best wishes to them. Made an amazingly quick recovery after hip replacement. Would totally recommend him and use again if other hip needs replacing. At 81 cant believe how surgery has changed my mobility.

I was referred to Mr Atkinson following a meniscus tear and a flipped medial meniscus resulting in a locked knee. Within a week of my initial consultation with him, he had arranged MRI's and booked me in for a meniscectomy and meniscus repair the following month. The consultations never felt rushed and were always punctual. After 6 years of suffering with a meniscus tear because of a missed diagnosis by my GP, I feel incredibly lucky to have been referred to Mr Atkinson. He has been very approachable, supportive and caring throughout , explaining the procedure and possible after-effects in great detail. His patient and sympathetic manner made the experience of undergoing surgery as positive as it could possibly be, and he showed an equally high level of care in all follow-up consultations. He was very careful to manage post-operative expectations and I was able to return to normal activities with a few weeks of surgery. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Atkinson.
