I live in Lanzarote and have had little success with the local medical services regarding my constant hip pain which i have had for around three following a bicycle accident. All the doctors looked at X-rays and told me it was normal or you have slight arthritis but no action plan to resolve the problem. I had a MRI scan performed at a private clinic and the report was reviewed by a local consultant but nothing conclusive was discovered. I asked a friend in the UK, he was a former Olympic strength and conditioning coach for Team GB if he could research a consultant that could assist me. I also did my research as I had worked in a number sports clinics as a Sports Massage Therapist in and around London. We both concluded that Mr Atkinson would be the man to discuss my problem with. A Zoom call was arranged and I wrote down a list of issues that I was experiencing with my hip. As the call started Mr Atkinson said that he had reviewed my MRI and then stated all the issues and problems that were evident to him. These were the same issues and problems that I had written on my note pad. It was obvious that this was the man for me. We discussed the history from the original accident through to the time of the call. We concluded that the head of the femur was dying and that the only way forward would a total hip replacement.

I would like to write to say my thanks to Mr. Atkinson for the excellent care and attention I received before, during and after my hip replacement in July this year. He took time to tell me the pros and cons of the operation, and at all times answered my many questions post operation comprehensively. Despite being an NHS patient I didn't feel treated in any inferior way to a private patient and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone, or indeed having another operation carried out by him in the future. He has an excellent bedside manner.

Mr. Henry Atkinson is a thoroughly professional surgeon who takes as much time and care with NHS patients as private patients.He takes great care to explain the procedure he is about to undertake, explaining advantages and unlikely disadvantages of the operation, which in my case was a total hip replacement.He came to see me the morning after the operation to see how I was and at all times has answered my questions honestly and thoroughly.I would recommend him to anyone and if I ever needed another orthopaedic operation would feel reassured if he was the surgeon.Excellent bedside manner.
