I had an issue with my right knee for about two years with a large bakers cyst at the back of my knee and after having a scan done and the cyst drained three times at the Spire London East Hospital Redbridge it came back each time after about a week. I was then placed under the care of Mr Asif Parker consultant surgeon and he explained to me that this was because my knee joint had warn away and would need replacing but his only concern was that he had nether come across such a large cyst like this before and would need to think of a solution to this. I had a full knee replacement done on the 13th April by Mr Asif Parker and he also made a way for the fluid from my knee to disperse in my leg naturally. It has now been two months since the operation and my knee is as good has new and the problem with the cyst is also sorted i will always be grateful to this gentleman for his time and expertise and would highly recommend him he is a true dedicated surgeon and a inspiration to the medical team and i wish him well in the future so that his knowledge can be passed on to generations of surgeons . Thank so much.

I have had a long standing issue with my right knee - ongoing for many years. I have had MRI scans, CT scans and numerous referrals which have amounted to nothing. I had considerable pain, lack of stability and strength of the whole knee joint. I was lucky to get an NHS referral to Mr Parkar by a locum at my doctor`s surgery and saw him first in Sept 2021 at Hartswood Spire Hospital. He was extremely thorough, gave my knee a full examination and suggested xrays might show the problem. I had them the same day and after discussion Mr Parkar told me that a Total Knee Replacement was the best solution to rectify the problem and give me a better quality of life. A big decision to make but Mr Parker guided me through it and gave me the pros & cons. I immediately agreed and had no doubt that this was the best and only cause of action. I got a very quick date for the operation of December 2021 but due to covid this was cancelled and rearranged for January 2022. I was extremely lucky to have my operation at The Hartswood Spire Hospital under the NHS and was an in patient there for 3 nights. Physiotherapy started immediately and I was discharged with crutches and given a strict course of exercises to do at home. I also had 5 physiotherapy sessions back at The Hartswood. I again saw Mr Parkar in April 2022 for a follow up appointment. All was good and the integrity of the new knee was perfect. However, I was struggling to bend my knee sufficiently to walk steadily. Mr Parkar suggested an MUA ( manipulation under anaesthetic ). This entailed another small operation which was arranged for 10 days later. Another overnight stay at The Hartswood and 24hrs manipulation by a Kinetic Spectra machine and all was well. This was also followed by a supervised course of physiotherapy in The Hartswood hydrotherapy pool ( I would highly recommend this as part of rehab from knee or lower limb surgery ). I have now been signed off by Mr Parker and realise that it could be up to 12 months before the knee finally settles down. I am absolutely satisfied with the treatment I had by Mr Parkar and his team. He is extremely thorough, very understanding and a world class surgeon in his field. I would highly recommend him for any lower limb, hip or knee surgery - one of his specialties is sports knee injuries. ( The Hartswood Spire Hospital also comes in for high praise ).

Absolute first class care by Mr Parkar. I had a total knee replacement and can’t thank him and his team enough. From the time of my first appointment, operation, recovery and discharge - I have been kept informed of all aspects of this procedure and the care I have received has been fantastic.
