I attended my first ever smear test at Queens Hospital in Romford. I have a family history of breast cancer in my family and am always nervous in hospitals, but the womens gynae team are just lovely. Simply lovely. I was seen by one of the nurses who took my smear, and immediately asked for a colposcopy. I was asked to come back the very next day for a loop cone biopsy, and it was on my results day that i first met my gynae consultant, Tania Adib. She immediately put me at ease and again, throughout my whole experience always has. She confirmed a diagnosis of stage 1A1 cervical cancer, but again reconfirmed how lucky i am as we caught this extremely early. I still realise how lucky i am every day, and can only say that she has along with her team treated me with the utmost care, efficiency in treatment, organisation with appointments (Made all the more easier, as after making arrangements to be treated privately at the same hospital i then had the pleasure of speaking to the wonderful Lucy Bevan, Dr Adibs secretary) and for making such a difficult and frightening experience all the more comforting. I feel confident in their expertise in gynae, as no matter how small the concern it is investigated. Thank you to everyone, genuinely x
