I recently had a Gastoscopy at Braintree Community Hospital. I requested sedation as I personally find a gastroscopy distressing (I realise we are all different) but the sedation didn’t seem to work and I remembered every single moment of it. However when I had one last year at Colchester general I didn’t remember a thing. I don’t see why there should be a difference between these two hospitals.
I found the staff to be kind and very caring.
Thank you for your feedback. The answer to your question is within your comment. Braintree is a community hospital whereas Colchester is a general hospital. We do not give excessive sedation in the community setting due to possible adverse effects of sedation.
I had an endoscopic procedure at the Braintree Community Hospital where I was treated by Dr. Naqvi with courtesy and professionalism. He was very skilled and I had complete trust in him. I would say to anyone awaiting a similar procedure under his care to have faith and relax,.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback.
I was amazed how speedy the appointment was made and the visit to Braintree went smoothly. I was petrified but the nurses were extremely friendly and reassuring, with lots of banter going on.....
The consultant was very quiet so I had difficulty in hearing what he was saying but the actual procedure went well. There was a little discomfort and I was aloud to look at the screen to see the inside of me and my little hernia......
I think it would have been good if was introduced before the procedure start, and again to have opportunity to ask questions afterward.
My only complaint would be with the telephonist making the appointment - it seemed she was reading from a sheet and couldn't get rid of me fast enough. I didn't get the information pack by post but I did manage to download it so I could have a good read.
Many thanks for your comments. During the procedure I mostly talk to the nursing staff helping out with biopsies etc Patients can always ask me any question or query they have anonymously on this page. I will forward your complaint to the booking team. Best Wishes
Very efficient, friendly, a good experience all round
