I hold Dr John Griffiths in the highest regard. I was a patient at the Churchill Hospital Oxford diagnosed with cancer, resulting in surgery for a Larynx-Pharyngectomy. A major operation and a daunting prospect for me. I was under Dr Griffiths’ care for anaesthesia, medication and ITU. Dr Griffiths’ friendly character put me at ease immediately. In surgery I was sedated for 12 hours and then consecutively a further 12 hours within the Intensive Treatment Unit. It was as if I had lost 24hrs waking to find the operation completed. Dr Griffiths ensured my wife was kept informed of my progress at this worrying time. Within ITU there were several levels of staff seniority from consultant to nurse. It was clear to me that there was sincere respect for each other allowing comments and communication to flow easily each way about the patient. My care was exemplary. Thank you.
