Dr Johns saw my husband when he came from A&E to gastroenterology. As far as I can tell, Dr Johns grasped the situation. She asked me what I knew of the situation (I was my husband's carer). She listened attentively and professionally. She ordered relevant investigatory tests as soon as she saw him. Within two days, she knew the results and had discussed them with the multidisciplinary team. As soon as she could, she took me aside to tell me the sad news discreetly and sympathetically.
