At a time when Fern House Surgery is under severe stress with the problems effecting the NHS the patient is equally concerned that the association between both parties is obviously not as close as earlier times. Christina and myself have been registered with Fern House for many years and when you really consider the relationship with Dr Mayet and other Doctors, Nurses plus the exceptional in-house Pharmacy including all staff throughout Fern House our experience over the past 25years can only be rated as first class. Yes, as an older patient I've been stressed at times in being 15th or more on the phone, however in respecting the value of just being one of many relying on the medical knowledge from Fern House minutes lost on the phone is more than justified Patients must understand that picking up the phone and expecting immediate contact with any Doctor is not always possible. I would take this opportunity of stating just one case of many between Dr Mayet and both of us. Christina developed a nasty chest infection and making a call informing reception it was suggested a visit would be the best answer. Dr Mayet saw her straight away and in showing concern with her condition stated that she should go to A&E and in accepting his advice I proposed taking her in my car. The response from Dr Mayet was 'No, I've already called for an Ambulance as I doubt she would make it' I've never forgotten his words as my wife had treatment in the Ambulance before leaving Witham. Staying in Hospital for days was the outcome and our thanks to Dr Mayet and all colleagues in Fern House who continually show their expertise in helping so many patients of all age groups.

For personal reasons I refuse to take any addictive medications which obviously can make me a very difficult patient to treat. Most GPS would see me as awkward and believe that if I refuse to help myself then why should they help me. But not Dr Mayet, who has gone above and beyond to try and manage symptoms from an earlier accident. In 2019 I had an accident that caused serious brain injuries which left me with chronic Migraines. Obviously I won't take opiate analgesia such a Co-Codamol or Tramadol, but Dr Mayet always respects and supports my decision and he worked tirelessly to find an alternative which eventually he did.

I go to New Rickstones Academy and I was assaulted in a PE lesson by three boys, I'm a girl. The teacher didn't help because she was on her phone. I refused to go to school after it happend so my mum took me to see Dr Mayet. I thought he would just ask my mum what happend but he didn't he asked me to swap seats with my mum and then he asked me what happend. He was the first person apart from my mum who told me how wrong what happend to me was and that it wasn't my fault. The teachers didn't care. He was really nice to me we had a long chat and he explained to me that he would write a letter to the school and tell them they should look after me and support me so that I can go to school and feel safe. Dr Mayet really helped me because he showed me he cared and that what happend to me was wrong, it wasn't my fault and that he would do everything he could to help me.

I can never thank Dr Mayet enough for all the help he has given me and the amazing way he cares for my mum. My mum had a really serious accident and when she came home I was scared to leave her but with Dr Mayets help we got her better and he helped me to build the confidence to move on and build a life outside my mum. I have just started my second year at college. I have a part job. I've just bought my first motorbike and past my test and I spend time with friends. I don't worry as much about my mum now and Dr Mayet still supports me by the excellent care he gives my mum. He never let's me down, he always looks after my mum when she needs it so a very big thank you Dr Mayet
