I would very much recommend Psychiatry-UK. Communication is excellent, I was regularly updated throughout the process and was given as much information as I could need. My doctor treat me with care and patience and my titration nurse went above and beyond to make sure my experience was a pleasant one. Waiting times could be long (through no fault of the service’s own) however I was updated and kept in mind throughout and felt heard when asking questions and asking about waiting lists etc. Very caring professional service overall and would highly recommend this service.

I would totally recommend Psychiatry UK. I saw them via Right to Choose and the wait time was around 6 months (as opposed to many years via my local NHS service). I was wary of the online nature of the service initially but actually it worked really well and it made it a lot easier logistically as compared to fitting in physical appointments. I had to wait around 6 months after diagnosis to begin titration (but again, as compared to the NHS process, this was minimal). The most frustrating element was that titration was paused mid-way due to medication shortages; I had found the first medication helped a lot, but it was felt that I should trial the other option as it might help more. The medication shortage was obviously out of P-UK's control, but they weren't able to keep me on the first med (which was in stock) whilst we waited for the second med to come into stock. Dropping back to being unmedicated was really tough after having experienced being medicated and it would have been good if there had been a process to allow for patients to stay on a dose that was helping in these unusual circumstances. Other than the above, titration worked really well. Ryan was great. Lots of information was provided and responses were timely. I think that it would probably have been good to have the option to have a phone call occasionally during the process as it's quite a big thing to go through. But sending notes back and forth did the job.

Took significantly longer than expected to receive an appointment (approximately 13 months). The website had a lot of information and was relatively easy to navigate.

I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Everyone I spoke to has been super kind, helpful and supportive. I genuinely felt involved with my treatment plan every step of the way, and 100% felt heard, seen, and respected. Cannot recommend them enough!

In the run up to the appointment I was given clear instructions about the assessments I needed to complete and how to upload these. The doctor was on time for the appointment. All of the questions were relevant and helpful and I did not feel rushed. He was able to explain the reasons for the questions and explain the diagnosis to me. He was also able to explain clearly the next steps. I would recommend the service.

My experience with Psychiatry-UK has been highly disappointing and anxiety-inducing. Initially, I was diagnosed with combined ADHD and told to wait for medication. However, there was no interim support or advice on managing symptoms without medication. I had to wait 7 months to start treatment, and once started, I was abruptly halted and placed on another waiting list. The lack of communication is particularly concerning. There is no direct contact via calls or any personal interaction; everything is done through a note system and forms, where you can’t even tag the person you might be speaking to. This impersonal approach has caused significant anxiety, especially given the mental health focus of the service. Months later, I missed a crucial message by three weeks, as it wasn’t delivered through a direct and noticeable channel. When I saw a message indicating my discharge, I promptly apologised and explained my situation, sharing personal information. When I responded to them, they never replied for weeks, which led me to contact their chat team. After a 2-hour wait, the chat team couldn’t help and directed me to email the experience team. The email response was impersonal, dismissive, and contradicted previous messages stating the discharge could be reversed. Throughout my year and a half with Psychiatry-UK, I have not received any effective treatment or meaningful support. Instead, I’ve been left feeling anxious and neglected. They also fail to consider potential interactions between prescribed medications and existing treatments, leaving patients to resort to Google for crucial information. This service, meant to support mental health, has only increased my anxiety and uncertainty. The lack of patient care, transparency, and effective communication is alarming. I genuinely hope they overhaul their system and start prioritising patient well-being. I understand that many organisations are understaffed and overworked, and I’ve been sympathetic to that. However, mental health care demands a more patient-centric approach, and Psychiatry-UK has fallen far short of this standard. I strongly do not recommend their services.

Couldn’t recommend Psych UK more. I used the right to choose for an ADHD diagnosis as well as medication and had a great experience with this service. Julie Jackson in particular (the prescriber) was incredibly helpful, supportive and knowledgable.
