Kay was absolutely brilliant today. She was really informative, honest and reassuring. Came out of the meeting feeling like she was there for my Mum every step of the way. What a credit to the team!
I found Kay to be a caring professional which was indeed a great help at a difficult worrying time. Despite the current pressures on the NHS Kay took time to explain everything and answer all my questions in a calm and unhurried way.
Kay made us aware of options that may be available to me. She gave information and was not in any way biased towards one particular therapy. I felt she listened to me and my partner equally. This was important as some of the information goes in my brain then out of the other earhole. Whereas my partner is more level headed and remembers these things.
She went through the good, the bad, and the ugly explaining as she went. She also told me that its up to me when I ask to see the surgeon and that at any time I can change my mind. I now have to think things through.
I felt Kay had a very empathetic approach, listening to and understanding my fears and concerns and responding to me in such a way as to be easily understood yet informative. My questions were answered honestly and directly without shirking from some of the more difficult answers but also with compassion.
Kay has helped me to decide my future course of treatment, based on her understanding of my past and current situation, considering also her knowledge based on her own professional experiences.
She was the pillar of common sense and clarity at a time when i needed it.
No question was too much trouble for her and i am clear i can contact her directly if, and whenever, i feel the need
Before and after having a mastectomy at Burton Hospital, was how I met Kay. From day 1 she has always been professional, caring, compassionate and someone who you can put your full trust in. She has always listened to my worries and done whatever was necessary to help alleviate any problems always putting my mind at rest. Nothing is too much trouble for Kay, and she will go the extra mile to make sure I am comfortable and reassured. This means an awful lot to me, as it probably does to all the other ladies in a similar situation. She is real star, and my hero to boot.
