This gentleman exemplifies everything that is wonderful about an NHS nurse. Following a recent diagnosis of prostate cancer, my husband and I felt that our world had imploded. Andrew, from the outset, reassured us calmly and professionally, but more importantly he treated us as individuals who were just embarking on the most terrifying journey and gave us hope. He genuinely cared that we were suffering and called us several times to offer hope and reassurance. He was an angel. He recognised the huge emotional impact that such devastating news has on patients and families. My husband is at the beginning of his cancer journey, we still have mountains to climb, but we feel that with such a great nurse by our sides, this journey will be less terrifying.
