I live 10 minutes away from Countess of Chester hospital yet I was only allowed to have op at Wrexham Maelor....40 mins away. As I am not able to take morphine I usually am given pethedine. I told staff about this at my pre op yet I was left in pain after operation as they had not arranged the necessary painkiller. I was left for , what seemed like a very long time without painkillers and a nurse on duty at night was rude an seemingly uninterested in my predicament. Apart from her all other staff were excellent. I had to take home several items - Zimbabwe frame, crutches, toilet frame and trolley at time of discharge....my son had to park at main enterance and make two trips back to ward for this equipment...this was very problematic.. Food was excellent. I have Crohn's disease and had illeostomy in 2003 causing multiple hernias, osteoarthritis in left foot, both hands, knees, hips and lower back.
