Suggested improvements
I was told I was not eligible for an X-ray or consultation due to my age. I was offered no further support or pain relief. My husband took me to Oxford JR A&E who diagnosed I had a fractured L1 Vertebrae and a cracked rib.

Response from Witney Community Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at our unit. People attending our Minor Injury units have an initial assessment that helps staff know whether it is appropriate for them to be treated/managed in our units. Unfortunately, on this occasion our practitioners were unable to request X-Rays for your back, therefore it was appropriate to refer you to the John Radcliffe hospital for an X-Ray and further assessment/treatment. Our Minor Injury units will always see patients of all ages and treat/manage according on their condition/injury. However, on this occasion is was necessary to refer to the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are sorry that this was not explained to you at the time, this has been shared with the team for learning. If you have any concerns please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service via email PALS@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk or via our free phone number 0800 328 7971.
