St Marks Hospital is the best hospital for bowel disorders in the country . I have always been treated with respect, care and compassion by all staff.I have had numerous operations and procedures in this hospital resulting in improved quality of life. The only constructive criticism I have is that it is sometimes difficult to speak to somebody by telephone .

The care given to me couldn't have been better. All staff who dealt with me were friendly and professional. Food wasn't provided or necessary so I haven't rated this.

St Marks always takes great care of their patients and provides enough time during appointments for everything to be covered and not feel rushed. During my time as a patient there I have received an excellent standard of care.

I started having problems with my digestion in 2019 during a particularly stressful period of time at work. I was under so much stress that I was bringing up spit and some food during eating. Eventually I was referred to the department here for a test. I have a number of grievances with the department and am upset, actually devastated by the lack of care I have received and the total disregard for my well-being that has been shown to me. I was never given an explanation about the results of the test by the department or my GP - ok if that is my GP fault shame on them too. I was never advised about the severity of my symptoms. I was never given a care plan about how my problem would be cared for long term - all they said was I would need long term PPI to manage symptons. That is pathetically inadequate. I have not been suffering from this problem for over two years. I am on my own. I am left to try and work out what is happening to me on my own. When I go to the GP they just now say go to AandE. It is IMPOSSIBLE to contact this department to try and get hold of anyone. They have no phone number that is answered and they have no email address even!!!! I am disgusted and horrified that this department claim they are world leading or anything of such nature as they are the worst health service I have experienced. I realise the NHS is under immense strain but that is no excuse. Every patient has a right to be treated with respect and dignity and a level of care appropriate to someone who has a real genuine serious health problem. Having a total lack of service like this is causing me stress depression frustration and even turning to suicidal thoughts because just the shear lack of care. I am not cattle just to be given a quick look over then basically told to go away. I do not know how anyone can say they receive a good service from this place. Disgusting service. Disgusting department.

I felt very safe in Bowel Screening Cancer unit. All the staff are very caring and l am very happy with the treatment l received. I would like to make a special mention of the main nurse who looked after me. Her name was Karen and she was very professional and treated me with great care and kindness. Thank you Karen and to all the staff in Screening theatre. I would also like to mention Elaine who l saw before the procedure. Very pleasant and kind. Thank you Elaine

Prior to coming in, I followed the preparation instructions (your documentation was perfect). From the check in with Reichelle Ellazar through to the procedure headed by Adam Haycock, the whole experience in the hospital was professional and personable. The whole team were great. The waiting time was good and I had frequent updates from the team regarding the timing of my procedure. During the procedure itself, the consultant answered my questions, informed my of what as going on etc. During recovery, I was looked after well - getting the kind of biscuits that my wife refuses to let me have at home .... THANK YOU !

Procedure clearly explained and all questions answered. All staff were compassionate, understanding, and caring. The procedure itself was relatively quick and with minimal discomfort.
