My review is about the Sainsbury Ward at St Marks Hospital. I was admitted for 6 nights following major surgery. The private room was of satisfactory standard, nothing to shout about. The view of Wembley Stadium is great. The food was of good standard too and that's about it. The basic facility of going private was not really met. The room is very basic with en-suite. It can do with being upgraded. the walls were bare with 1 picture frame that looked very dated. My main disappointments were: 1. The television in the room didn't work and was eventually replaced 3 days later. I had to fiddle around with the arial (after having surgery) just to get a bit of fuzzy reception on the TV. It made me very angry as this facility in the 21st century is standard. It took 3 days of complaining before they decided to replace the TV. The staff in reception don't smile (look miserable) or even greet you (unlike other private hospitals I have been to). No welcome etc... Some of the staff (HCA's) and nurses didn't have a clue about my treatment. Most of them didn't even want to check and measure my stool and urine samples as directed by the doctor. The stool and urine samples would stay in the bathroom for a day or so until I kept reminding the nurses that it needs to be checked and measured. I just could not wait to get out of the place as I felt more ill in the hospital. The room temperature control was not good......it was either too cold or too hot. My Surgeon and doctors and specialist nurse are of excellent standard. they were brilliant as expected.
