17th March 2021

After two days in ward 12, I was moved to ward 3 with just 4 beds. The staff were good and helpful, but I was concerned that three used, and part full urinal bottles were wedged behind the toilet hand rail, and not moved while I was there. The toilet pan was also soiled, and when I informed the cleaner who was chatting to other patients, she demanded, “did you do it” but as I denied it another patient spoke up and said “no it’s been like that since yesterday”. Leaving half full urine bottles wedged behind a hand rail is not wise or healthy at any time but during Covid it’s surely worse.

Suggested improvements
A visit by my consultant would have been welcome and provided opportunity to discuss my concerns regarding the nerve pain in my left thigh. Now ten weeks later it’s still causing me some concern and, discussing it with a consultant would provide a little comfort, and maybe some treatment?
