Review of Accident and Emergency LGI (1280) written by a patient
8th January 2017

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who had any dealings with me on Saturday evening, the 7th of January, 2017, for their care, concern, and great patience, particularly appreciated because both the Minor Injuries and A. & E. Departments were busy. From the receptionists, practitioner nurse in the Minor Injuries Unit, to the radiographer and the staff nurse and doctor (I think Dr. Emma New) in the A. & E. Department, all were exceptionally kind, empathetic and understanding. All of these members of staff ought to be congratulated and thanked for having provided such an excellent service and such wonderful care. I'm afraid that I was not able to rate the cleanliness of the waiting area in the A. & E. Department as 'great' because it left much to be desired! However, I did arrive at the end of what might have been a very busy day so I was not too concerned about having noticed this more minor problem! I found the television in the waiting area a little irritating because the sound was too low for me to be able to hear, but, had the volume been increased, the louder voices and sounds would have been thoroughly annoying for everybody in the vicinity, so I do appreciate the reason for keeping the volume low! Perhaps it might be better to screen something for which sound is unnecessary, but I can't think of anything in this category except for dance, either classical or contemporary, but both these would be acceptable and interesting to few waiting patients, I fear! Highlights of the day's football matches were being screened as I waited and these could be easily followed without the commentary. No doubt the waiting male patients (and some female!) were delighted, but I really would have liked to know whether Sir Andy Murray had won his tennis match, something which I thought I could make out from the television, but was only able to confirm when I had access to the internet at a later time!

Review of L15 Vascular Ward (0788) written by a patient
1st January 2017

I received excellent information and care from reception in the admission ward and operating theatre and also in the recovery ward. I was made to feel comfortable and reassured. My stay in the ward and after care was efficient and I felt well looked after. My only disappointment was that it took about two and a half hours to get discharged after being told by the Doctor that I could go home.

30th December 2016

As a sommunity nurse obtaining an out ofhors needlestick injury I was dreading to have to come down and wait hours for a blood test and be made to feel I was wasting their time. The opposite happened and they understood why I had to be there (policy) and it only took 22mins from being registered in reception recieving advice and treatment and being discharged. I couldn't of asked for more

Review of LOHD Children's Oncology/Haem Day Unit (1639)
20th December 2016

Appointment times don't mean a thing. Expect to spend all day waiting like a lemon to be seen. In todays age with technology as it is, is it too simple to ask that you attend and get seen at appointment time.

Review of Surgical Pre-assessment Clinic LGI (1440) written by a patient
14th December 2016

The whole pre assessment process was well organised and efficient. The staff were friendly and appeared knowledgeable and gave me time to express any concerns I had. I had my blood taken and recently had become faint however today the clinician that took my blood was quick and did a fantastic job. All round a great service. Thank you

Staff were attentive, polite, caring, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They gave me plenty of time to discuss my care and reassured me about my future care.

Review of LAND - Antenatal Day Care Unit (1706) written by a patient
11th December 2016

I attended Mr Simpson's clinic having been advised that my baby was breech at 37 weeks. I initially saw Zakia Mohamed who advised that I could return the following week to attempt an ECV. After further discussion he asked Mr Simpson to see me that day and what followed can only be described as exemplary patient care. Mr Simpson asked that I be seen in the Antenatal Day Care Unit so that he could attempt an ECV himself. I was looked after by Rachael Hall, Amanda Colley (a student midwife) and later Tina Beardmore. All were incredibly helpful, providing timely reassurance and answering my questions knowledgeably and sensitively. I was kept informed throughout and felt that my needs were considered and responded to appropriately. The outcome was positive and I left almost four hours after my initial appointment feeling relieved and grateful to Mr Simpson and his team. I need to attend for a further scan later this week to check that the baby is still head down but even should that not be the case I am content that nothing further could have been done to assist me. I would describe my approach to pregnancy and labour as non-interventionist on the whole but am extremely grateful for the assistance I received in this instance and am hopeful that it will allow me to have the second home birth I desire. My sincere thanks to all those named!

We were reassured by different staff about the procedures my wife and new born son would have to undergo,. Never felt pressured into any decisions but were offered information and advice on the best course of action.
