Physio sessions are quite good need extended sessions. Sessions needed at the weekends, as you loose your momentum and bank holidays, loose out on treatments again.

People went out of their way to accommodate my needs. An explanation of how much the onus is on me to ask for care and a plan would be good in the first couple of days, as the new patient I don't know the protocols.

Review of Planned Care and Recovery Team (CMHT) Wellingborough and East Northants written by a patient
23rd April 2015

I am under the Wellingborough Mental Health Team at present. I have been under their care for a little over a year. I wanted to recommend my Psychiatrist Dr Malik, he is very understanding, non-judgemental and kind. He will not lock you away just because you have a mental illness. I remember how scared I was at first of this and of what might be wrong with me. I was correctly diagnosed within one session by him as suffering with Paranoid Schizophrenia. He talked me through the illness, medication and answered all of my questions. As a result he asked if I would like to receive help from a psychologist also. I started therapy with Coleen Nasir a year ago now. My last session with her was 23/04/15. Both Dr Malik and Coleen explained how my past trauma and abuse had led to my mental illness. The psychologist started me on a course of CBT therapy and then also combined this with EMDR therapy. If was very effective and beneficial, providing me with a different way of thinking and tools I could use to help me, so that I could better control my illness. Coleen was also very understanding, non-judgemental, kind and was able to understand what was going on inside my mind to cause all that was happening to me. It was liberating having someone see all that and explain to me what I couldn't see or understand for myself. So I wanted to recommend them to other patients who are out there worried about their illness and care. The only thing I would ask of the Mental Health Team, to suggest for future patients, is to look at how long they have to wait to see a Psychologist. I was already under the Psychiatrist but there were several months between being referred and having my first session. I think it would have been better to start it sooner, to run alongside my Psychiatrist appointments. The only sadness is that Dr Malik will now be working with the Mental Health Team in Kettering, and I believe Coleen is moving to a role that will focus on BPD. So if you are in those areas, and need help then I recommend them fully. Please don't be frightened, and you must be completely honest with them - otherwise they won't know what is wrong with you. All the best, and all my love to you. You're not alone and you can do this.
