[name removed] was personable, friendly and knowledgeable. We always felt listened to and understood, with [name removed] going above and beyond to provide care through her own knowledge as well as useful links and information. We never felt like a ‘number’ as [name removed] always made us feel like her only patients with no rushing or palming off questions or queries. Thank you for your utmost care [name removed], and all the best with your next adventure :) [name removed], [name removed] and baby [name removed] xx

Suggested improvements
Not specific to Siobhn, but for all midwives and health visitors to have obligatory training to diagnose tongue tie.

Response from Community Services - Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Regarding tongue tie assessment – this involves a full feeding assessment and an oral examination which focusses on the function of the tongue, not the appearance. It is a specialist skill that takes time to undertake to a high standard and so we wouldn’t be able to train the whole health visiting workforce to do this. All staff receive 2 full days of infant feeding training on appointment and have regular updates. We encourage staff to refer into the Infant Feeding team if there are feeding challenges that they have not been able to improve, and then the specialist team would do the tongue tie assessment which ensures consistency and quality. We hope this explains why we don’t train all staff but if you have any further questions please do contact me on 07834150205. Thank you. Emma Goulding. Infant Feeding Clinical Team Lead.
