The treatment and care I received during my visit was excellent, but I was not given sufficient information regarding what to expect after my visit. I was also not told that there was a possibility of getting a UTI following my procedure, nor what symptoms to look out for and what to do in the case of contracting one.

Suggested improvements
I should have been given the above information before the urodynamics procedure and after it, I should have been given the option of taking preventative antibiotics or, at least, have been given full information about how to detect signs of a UTI and what to do / who to contact. I emailed the doctor's private secretary (as indicated on my summary letter) to ask what to do on Thursday night, but she was away and no-one checked her email and got back to me until Monday, by which time I was very unwell and in extreme discomfort with no idea what to do. Once the nurse became involved, I did eventually get the care I needed, but I think the whole situation could have been avoided with clearer after-care information. This should include clear instructions in terms of who to contact if you have a problem following the investigation, what to do if you do get a UTI and what foods and drinks to avoid. Unfortunately, I wasn't told about the latter until the day I finally started antibiotics and I had been eating and drinking all the things that make the symptoms worse!

The nurse, Kirsty, was excellent.
