Dr Jon Simmons is the trauma plastic surgeon. I will need to remove the bony overgrowth in my ankle joint to help ensure nothing negative happens to my ALT flap.
Dr Simmons was very warm and welcoming. He reviewed my ALT flap, and we discussed my previous care at Charing Cross under a couple of his colleagues. He was delighted to see how well the ALT flap had integrated naturally into my body and hear about the activities and lifestyle I led despite the injury profile.
He explained that my ALT flap was not at risk of dying during the procedure but would need to assist Nadeem (orthopaedic surgeon) for 20 mins in case complications arose.
Despite facing surgery to remove bony growth spurts in my ankle due to developing arthritis, I left the appointment feeling uplifted, as Jon expressed that he was thrilled to see how well things had turned out for me.
