The reception staff and the doctor who did my CPET were all excellent-competent and empathetic. I think it would have been helpful to have sent clear information about the test before. I personally knew what to expect but others would not have

Although Janet Stowell went out of her way to get an answer to the question of how much the test would cost so that I was aware whether I had the outpatient cover for the test, I'm afraid I still think the administrative organisation and lack of knowledge was not only very poor and lacking in empathy with respect to what information a patient needs to know but also a complete outlier in the outpatient private care I have experience in other private sector hospitals. It took 7 days to get the answer I was after and it was even then an incomplete answer. The administrative management in my opinion would do well to review their systems. What took me 7 days of painful communications has only ever taken 15 minutes in all the other private sector clinics - 1, The patient contacts the consultant's or department's secretary whose details are on the private clinic's website. They let you know the cost of the treatment that will be charged to your private health company. 2. The patient is then aware whether they have the funds in their PHI to cover the test or consultation. 3. The patient then contacts their PHI who let them know that the procedure itself is convert and gives an authorisation code for it. This has made me say I would be unlikely to recommend it. This has nothing to do with the 3 clinical staff I have been seen in in my 3 appointments at the Cleveland Clinic as they were all clearly highly competent and very good communicators and all to do with the unnecessary time and lack of knowledge that occurred secondary to what seems to be a disorganised administrative system with a lack of empathy for the patient's pre clinic journey.
