After telephoning the surgery for an emergency appointment I was told to use the appalling DoctorLink system. This left me waiting some 7 hours before giving me an appointment. I had in the meantime responded to messages and called again but was told to continue to wait. I was only given about 1 hours notice of the appointment. Fortunately I was able to drive myself so didn't have to organise anyone else. At no time was I given the option of requesting a female doctor, an important consideration given the nature of my condition. The appointment was at another surgery to mine. Having seen the doctor, I asked the receptionist to book a follow up appointment, as requested by the doctor. Whilst an appointment was easily booked for the nurse, one for a doctor was impossible. I am still waiting to hear! DoctorLink is an disgraceful waste of staff time, and mine, it does not work for everyone as it relies on text messages and internet usage via a mobile phone. Please allow those who take the trouble to telephone or call in person to book appointments. This review system forced me to give a star rating for getting appointment, a single star does not reflect how appalled I was. The stress caused increased the severity of my symptoms, and left me feeling very distressed.
