I needed to see a doctor quickly and my usual doctor wasn't there that day. I saw Dr Parsons instead. He was wonderful and really helped me. He helped me make good choices on the treatment options available to me for my problem. He didn't push me into any choice, made it completely mine. He was very reassuring and gave me the time that was needed for my consultation (sorry it went over my allocated time!) Thank you for helping me through that day!

What has happened to my surgery? Each time I try and make an appointment for either myself or my elderly parents I am met with an antagonistic older receptionist response who takes great pains to explain to me 'the system' and 'how busy' the GPs are and then tells me I have to phone the next morning at 8am to 'get in quick'. Maybe I am unlucky that I get the same lady answering the phone on a monday morning. It used to be that the receptionists usef to greet me with their name - my constructive suggestion is that perhaps this polite welcolme could be introduced - maybe then this receptionist concerned may be less abrasive.

New to this practice, recommended by a local who is a patient of Newland. My husband and I have just moved back from 10 years abroad and the service from this practice has been fantastic.

Recently had to contact the surgery for a close elderly relative (94 years of age) who was in extreme pain and staying with me, as this practice is the one I currently use. The doctor came out but did very little . She didn't take blood pressure and didn't consider acute pain to warrant an emergency call. After she left and the ambulance didn't arrive, I called 999 myself and eventually the ambulance arrived. The paramedics asked me how long she had been the state she was in and worked very hard to try and get stats etc.. They rushed her to hospital and the team did all they could but she didn't survive and died in the early hours of the next morning. My complaint is that if the doctor had tried a bit harder my Mum may have survived but even if she didn't the hospital would have been able to administer medication sooner and she wouldn't have been suffering for so long.
