I had asthma treatment cancelled by the surgery nurse without review. I then could not get a preventative inhaler (requested but not issued by surgery) which led to a A&E trip for a chest infection that might been avoided if medication given. My health issue was then rediagnosed from chest infection to asthma ‘ flare’ up by a Langham place GP without seeing me or talking to me. Then nurse booked me review apptS without consultation in my work day time and then has no appts to reschedule any time soon. In addition my partner has had ‘medication review appts 7ral times and not on any medication from a gp in the last 27 years. 50 people on hold at 8am, locum gps over the phone because f2f appts are booked up by 08:30 with surgery GPs. Booked non urgent appointments never available with surgery GPs.

Suggested improvements
A booking system that works. Co-production across all aspects of the work of surgery, Surgery staff not to make ballots without consultation with patient first. As leaves patients with ball ‘in their court’ and ‘their fault’ if they don’t rearrange: is very very poor, manipulative practice and wastes clinic time. Appts with surgery gps. Face to face or at least offer online/ teams appts. Checking people records so medication review appts are sent to only people asked to take prescribed medication. Opening up of booked / non urgent appts more than once in a week. Covid has gone so why security screens now.??? No such screens at Nhft hospital cafes ????
