I've suffered from Crohn's disease for many years; however, my flare-ups increased this year, which deteriorated my health, and I was referred to Dr Alex Hotouras. I met Dr. Alex Hotouras in July at Whipps Cross Hospital and he booked in my surgery for September. During the appointment Dr. Alex took his time to explain all the details about the surgery, answering all my questions and concerns. Unfortunately, I was admitted to Whipps Cross hospital A&E three days after with an intestinal obstruction and other complications. Luckily, Dr Alex Hotouras's team was on duty. He decided to do the survey on the following day. Prior to the surgery he had a conversation with myself and my wife, where he explained the possible complications of the surgery due to high level of the inflammation and what it would consist of. Through the conversation Dr Alex was very kind, caring and empathetic. I felt positive and confident as I was in very good hands! He called my wife straight after the surgery which was very much appreciated. Dr. Alex saved my life because as it turns out I also had a rupture in my intestines. There are no words to express how grateful I am to have been so well looked after by Dr Alex before, during and after my surgery. My family and I will always be grateful for the amazing work Dr Alex did and how pleasant and caring he was throughout the time I was in hospital. I feel lucky to be able to continue my consultations with Dr Alex Hotouras and feel thankful to have my reversal surgery with him next year. If I could, I would give Dr Alex Hotouras 5000 stars!! May God Bless him and I wish him all the very best!!!

At the age of 24, I kept presenting myself to casualty due to severe pain. According to scan it was due to severe diverticulitis. I have a rare genetic condition which has manifested itself in different ways. Doctors believe my diverticulitis is due to my NF1. I was under the care of Mr Alex Hotouras and after much consideration and discussions, decided to operate. I couldn't thank this doctor enough, I am so grateful to him. Mr Hotouras did a fantastic job, he explained everything to me and to my parents. He dedicated his time and effort and concentrated on my operation, a major operation (sigmoid colectomy). The doctor worked his wonders by not giving me a stoma. It was a great success. He kept in touch post operation to monitor my recovery. If all doctors work like Mr Hotouras, his ethics and professionalism, his caring personality, u think the world would be better place but its a shame that we seldom encounter this kind of individual these days. A doctor who you can trust and that's how it should be.. because patient pit their trust in doctors hand. He us a doctor who takes his time to listen to his patient and explain everything in depths and take his time to contact his patient to check on them. He explain the pros and cons and always put his patient at ease by saying he will do his best. Patients in his care should always feel safe and grateful knowing that he will do his utmost best and deliver high quality of care. I would like to thank you again My Hotouras for your dedication and hard work. Jamal

Dr. Hotouras is a great surgeon who was comforting at every stage of my operation. He made me feel a lot less anxious about the procedure, and he seemed to have sympathy for my situation. The surgery was supposedly complex, with risks of further issues, yet it went great. He visited me almost daily while I stayed in Poplar Ward to check up on me; he used humour and was very positive when around me. I strongly recommend Dr. Hotouras to any patients needing to undergo a procedure.

I cannot fault the care, skills and expertise provided by Dr Hotouras who performed keyhole surgery for a bowel resection due to Crohn’s disease for me two weeks ago. He understands it is very worrying for a patient when they are told they need surgery and from the initial consultation he listened, provided clear and practical information about what would happen and genuinely wanted to answer questions. He was accessible, I felt he gave me time to make the decision but was also very honest about what the surgery would entail. Dr Hotouras is an extremely skilled surgeon as mine was more complicated however he has made such a difference to my health already by taking such care about how he performed the surgery. I fully believe this has helped my recovery be so positive and go well. Whilst in hospital Dr Hotouras and his team visited daily, he made sure he checked my progress himself and gave me time to ask questions and genuinely make sure I was doing well. He has called me since discharge to check how I am at home which is so reassuring. I would not have wanted anyone else operating on me, I can’t say enough how much trust I have and am in awe regarding how Dr Hotouras has helped me. I told him he has given me my life back and this is absolutely true. Thank you from GJ Marsh

Mr Hotouras listened to what I had to say about my symptoms and previous treatment. After further investigation, he saw me again and reassured me that I do not need further surgery at present. He inspired confidence in both me and my wife, and advised me on ways to lessen any symptoms I might have in future. Highly recommend him to any patient who is anxious about condition.
