I have been treated for thyroid cancer under Miss Natasha Choudhury and as part of this I underwent surgery twice. I feel incredibly lucky that Miss Choudhury was my surgeon. A cancer diagnosis is shocking and she was very patient in helping me to understand everything and made sure that I was fully comfortable with my treatment plan. She went to every effort to ensure that the surgery happened quickly and I was prioritised. When it came to surgery, I couldn't have felt in better hands. Just prior to the surgery, Miss Choudhury came to see me to check I was comfortable and then she followed up post surgery whilst I was still in hospital just to check in that I was ok. This made me feel very safe and reassured. I feel incredibly grateful that I was able to benefit from her expertise and knowledge. When you've had a cancer diagnosis, a scar is the last of your worries. However, only 3 weeks after my second surgery it looks amazing. In time I think it will hardly be noticeable. Huge credit to a very skilled surgeon and the outside can only be a small indication as to the level of care that has gone on the inside. I also have to mention Miss Choudhury's team, every team member has been caring and excellent. Special mention to her Macmillan Nurse, Lucy Weeks, who has been very supportive and given me time when I've needed to help me understand everything. All in all I feel lucky that I have been kept alive and incredibly grateful for our NHS. Nicole James
